Dear Parents
I am very excited to have your child in my art class this year.
I have a whole new array of challenging and exciting activities. It will be full of creativity and fun. My name is Irene Arrea, and I have been an art teacher in school for 13 years. I love art in every way and believe that every student has an important way to express themselves through art.
This is a hands on class where the students will have a chance to demonstrate skills with a variety of materials, tools, techniques and processes resulting in the creation of works of art.
I also created some rules so we can have a positive environment in our classroom for all students. The plan below will outline the rules and explain the consequences for not following them:
- Work in your place
- Use art materials wisely and safely
- Use your time wisely
- Respect your classmates
- Respect the art work in the classroom
To encourage students to follow rules, I will recognize appropriate behavior with motivating word. However, if a student chooses to break a rule:
- First I will call his/her attention
- Second time, he/she will have a time out
- Third time, he/she will be sent to the office
- Fourth time, I will contact parents
- If it becomes a persistent disruption, I will talk to the principal to look for another alternative.
